And personally, I think I hear a benefit to Audirvana. And yet, bits are bits, right? So, amirm , please save us from this mystery: Do these players deliver different bits or clock speeds or jitter or “musical ether” to a DAC via USB? Does it matter if you have “good” DAC? Yes, having a competently designed, transparent DAC helps, but I wouldn’t concern myself with clock speeds, jitter, etc. Unless one is willing to do bit level comparisons of the player outputs when rendering the same level matched audio, people saying this and that about the sound quality is just an opinion. And a dealer’s would be the last opinion I’d trust to make that determination as their underlying motive is profit.

Chris P , Aug 20, There are a lot of software missing from that list. I’m currently using Roon by itself as the upgrade price for my version of HQPlayer is so expensive.

Audirvana used to be great, the new version is terribly buggy, although the interface is probably the best there is. It sounds really good… But the interface is, as you said it, horrible….
BTW, Neutron has an online manual that I forgot to mention. Unfortunately, I discovered its existence a bit late, after I studied the app by myself. Thank you! I had to fight this Neutron settings also on my own. So far I have found out several things the hard way. Also that I had to restart the app several times to get changes to work in it.
Currently playing one of my favourite musicians Air from France. It crashed here all the time. Not worth the time and money. He loves Amarra. I tried it on Mac a year and a half agon and it was too buggy for me. I have already posted some comments on why I bought HQPlayer in the forums, so I will not rehash old thoughts.
However, I want to share my recent discovery that some of you may want to try or not.

For audio or video, when buffer is empty, that’s just lost data. And then distortion of the signal and not small amount! Rja said:.
