Thankyou very much. Although I still don’t know what component was causing the problem, and the DISM analyses didn’t report anything. I too have had this problem for several months now. Like a lot of other users, I find it almost impossible to identify the cause.
Whilst trying to locate the problem, I opened task manager and clicked on ‘view’ followed by ‘expand all’. I watched the display for a few moments and suddenly the disk usage started to drop to normal levels. If I then click on ‘view’ again and then ‘collapse all’, the disk usage climbs back up.
